Grant Elgersma

Grant Elgersma's interest in rock music can be traced back to the release of U2's Achtung Baby. The album called Grant's attention to the exciting possibility that a Christian could indeed participate in the coming of God's Kingdom in the area of rock n' roll. Grant formed a band at Dordt College with Joel Zuidhof, who became a consistent partner and collaborator during and after college. Grant's involvement with Joel and their band, OVERHANG, is an attempt to flesh out a Christian vision for music that includes both believers and non-believers. For the past ten years, Grant's experiences with music have also contributed to his studies in philosophy. Grant has a master's degree in philosophy from DePaul University and is currently an adjunct professor in the philosophy and theology departments at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois. He has been contributing articles and reviews to catapult magazine since the beginning of *culture is not optional and continues to be an active member on the discussion board.
