Presenter

Bethany J. Osborne

Bethany J. Osborne is in the last stages of her MA in the Department of Adult Education and Counselling Psychology, at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE/UT). Her thesis, The Learning of Embattled Bodies: Women Political Prisoners of Iran, looks at using narrative and visual art as tools to enable learning in women who have experienced trauma. Prior to returning to school, Bethany worked for nine years in various community development contexts in both Canada and Bangladesh. Her work often involves creative approaches to both teaching and learning. She is passionate about working with women, enabling their learning processes and providing places and spaces for their voices to be heard. When she isn’t with people, you are likely to find her reveling in quiet time and space- writing, creating her own art or making bread.
