Lee Fletcher

Lee David Fletcher has been an industrial designer since before he could manipulate his first Lego block. It may not have been called "industrial design," but that is certainly what it was. He was educated in Canada and the UK achieving an MA in the field, where he learned not simply the "how" we design, but the "why" we design. He has been in the professional practice of industrial design for the better part of twelve years--seven years in consulting and five years in manufacturing, in an attempt to round out his understanding of both ends of the design through production process. His product experiences have ranged from outdoor public playgrounds to dental equipment and office furniture. Throughout these projects, a central theme has developed--a rational approach to form-giving, and a constant search for the appropriate and balanced solution given a product's context and project constraints. He holds two patents, has won a number of design awards and is a professional member of the Association of Chartered Industrial Designers of Ontario.
